In 2024, Garrett County was selected to be an Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) grant subrecipient for a Connect Humanity project, the "Appalachia Digital Accelerator," assisting rural Appalachian communities in developing plans to tackle digital education, opportunities, equity and inclusion and to be able to take advantage of upcoming funding opportunities.
The consultant, Rural Innovation Strategies, Inc., subcontracting with CTC Technology & Energy, released the first part of the plan, which lays out how addressing Digital Opportunities will bolster Garrett County's economy. Below is a link to that plan:
