Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC)

The Garrett County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) meets on a quarterly basis. This committee is comprised of stakeholders from various agencies, departments, and organizations. LEPC meetings are open to the public.

LEPC MISSION STATEMENT


The Garrett County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) prepares hazardous materials emergency plans that indicate fixed-site facilities that use, produce, or store hazardous substances that are present in Garrett County. The LEPC serves as the repository for regional reports filed under Title III of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-To-Know Act of 1986 (EPCRA). The LEPC directs regional Title III implementation activities and performs associated outreach functions to increase awareness and understanding of and compliance with the EPCRA program. Additionally the Garrett County LEPC will take a multi-hazard approach to planning, training and exercise activities within Garrett County and will serve as a multi-hazard steering committee under Garrett County Emergency Management.
