Garrett County Government COVID-19 Update

The Garrett County Government is actively monitoring the situation involving the outbreak of the coronavirus COVID-19.

The Board of Garrett County Commissioners, as well as Sheriff Rob Corley and Judge Ray Strubin, have been in regular contact with Garrett County Health Officer Robert Stephens and Director of Emergency Services John Frank for updates on the coronavirus situation.

This team is essential for managing a potential public health emergency and will provide a coordinated effort to mitigate risk and disruption for Garrett County citizens.

Garrett County Government is operating under a normal schedule but access the Garrett County Government offices and the Courthouse are restricted. We request that business be conducted via email or phone where possible.

“While there are currently no confirmed cases in Garrett County, we would expect that status to change as more people are tested. We must stay diligent in following CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of this disease,” said Garrett County Board of County Commissioners Chair Paul Edwards.

“The Garrett County Health Department is the lead authority for all public health emergencies, and we will continue working closely together with the department and County's Chief Health Officer.”

The County will follow the State of Maryland recommendations. Please check the county website, https://www.garrettcounty.org/commissioners/coronavirus for the latest information.
