Christian W. Mash Sworn In as State’s Attorney

Christian W. Mash, Esq., was sworn in on January 3, 2023 as the State’s Attorney for Garrett County.

In the November 2022 election, Justin Gregory, Esq., was elected as the next State’s Attorney. However, Mr. Gregory was then appointed Circuit Court Judge by Governor Hogan. This appointment was made prior to the beginning of the new term, which created a vacancy in the office.

After a review of eligible and qualified applicants, Judge Gregory appointed Mash as State’s Attorney for the four-year term beginning January 3rd.

Christian Mash has been an Assistant State’s Attorney for Garrett County for the past eight years. Prior to that, his legal experience included work as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Frederick County and as a Law Clerk for the Hon. James L. Sherbin of the Circuit Court for Garrett County.

Mash graduated cum laude from Delaware Law School and is a graduate of the University of Maryland. Mash is active in the Garrett County community, volunteering as Attorney Advisor for the Southern Garrett High School Mock Trial team. He is the President of the Board of Trustees for the Ruth Enlow Libraries of Garrett County, serves on the Board of the Garrett College Foundation, and is a member of the Oakland Rotary Club.

Mash lives in the Oakland area with his wife Jessica and sons John and Abe.
