June 2, 2020 Primary Election Voting Information

Postponed from April 28, 2020 due to the COVID-19 crisis, the June 2nd primary election will mainly be a “vote by mail” election. This election allows each party to choose its’ respective candidate for the presidency, congress, and/or the national conventions.

Every eligible Republican and Democratic voter will automatically receive an actual ballot by early May with “Official Absentee Balloting Material” printed on the front of the envelope. Return postage is prepaid and ballots must be postmarked by June 2, 2020.

Voters who prefer to drop off their ballots can do so at a designated ballot drop off location from Thursday, May 21, 2020 through Tuesday, June 2, 2020. Garrett County’s drop off location will be at the Oakland Community Center (Oakland Armory) located at 14 N 8th St. Oakland, MD.

Voters may also choose to drop off ballots at the Election Board office located at 2008 Maryland Hwy Suite 1 Mountain Lake Park, MD. This option is available starting May 11, 2020 and is available Monday through Friday until Tuesday, June 2, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Lastly, if you are unable to vote by mail, you may vote in-person on election day, June 2, 2020, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00p.m. Garrett County’s vote center will be at the Oakland Community Center located at 14 N 8th St. Oakland, MD.
