The Garrett County Health Department was notified today of seven positive COVID-19 testing results at a long-term care facility in Garrett County.
Staff and residents of Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home in Oakland, Maryland, were tested on Thursday and Friday in conjunction with the state initiative to test all long-term facilities in the State.
Today the nursing home received confirmation of positive results for four residents and three staff members. All persons with positive results are female and are asymptomatic, or not showing any symptoms. Residents with positive results have been isolated, and staff with positive results have been required to isolate at home.
The residents include two women in their 60s, and two in their 80s. The staff members ages are one woman in her 30s, one in her 40s, and one in her 60s. All positive staff members are not Maryland residents and will not be included in any Maryland positive testing numbers. Garrett County’s total positive cases for COVID-19 is currently at 10.
Additional test results for the facility are still pending.
In addition, 188 negative results were received for residents and staff.
At the end of April, Governor Hogan announced universal testing of all residents and staff at all Maryland nursing homes, regardless of whether they are symptomatic. Additional long-term facilities in Garrett County will be tested in the near future.
