Department of Economic Development Hires Business Development Specialist

Garrett County Department of Economic Development welcomes Joshua Hook as the new Business Development Specialist.

The newly created Business Development Specialist position will work directly with county organizations to connect resources and find additional grant funding. These efforts will continue to build a robust economic infrastructure in the county.

The Business Development Specialist will also work with county municipalities, assist with business infrastructure development, participate in workforce initiatives, and facilitate available resources.

“Creating the Business Development Specialist position was the next logical step in expanding our work here in economic development. Hiring Josh is instrumental in connecting our small businesses with available resources and creating success,” said Mike Hough, Economic Development Director.

Hook brings several years’ experience in management with Hunter Douglas, Garrett County Emergency Services, and the Deep Creek Fire Company. He obtained his Master of Business Administration from Frostburg State University, graduating with honors.

“I appreciate the opportunity to work within the Economic Department for this county. I look forward to creating opportunities from the challenges and obstacles we face now and, in the future,” said Hook. “Having two children growing up in the county, I have a vested interest in securing a prosperous future for them.”
